You can then clean your pool shutter slats by following the instructions mentioned above.

How do you clean a pool cover?

It will take a bit of time to clean pool shutter slats well and you must make sure you follow all the steps.

Remove any dirt before cleaning the shutter

First thing to do: basic cleaning. Remove any waste, such as dead leaves with a broom, brush or vacuum cleaner.

Clean the stains on the shutter slats

The dirt that has accumulated on the shutter may have left stains. Use a sponge to clean them. Make sure you use a non-abrasive sponge and, if necessary, also use detergent. At the same time, clean the other parts, such as the crank handle for example.

Remove limescale deposit

Limescale may accumulate between shutter slats and it needs to be removed. This is, without a doubt, the trickiest step, but it's also very important as limescale can prevent your shutters from working well.

Rinse with a power hose

Once you've finished cleaning your pool shutters, you can rinse them down with a high-pressure cleaner or power hose without exceeding 80 bar.

Leave to dry

Once you've totally finished cleaning, the easiest thing to do is to leave your shutters rolled out over your pool to air-dry.

When should you clean pool shutters?

It's advisable to clean pool shutters twice a year. You should clean them first in the autumn, before you winter your pool. Then, you should clean them again when you open up your pool in springtime.

When you clean your pool cover is also a good time to check that your equipment is still working well. Inspect the slats correctly when you wash them and roll out and roll up your shutters to make sure they're still working properly.

Over the wintering period, you can cover your pool shutters with a cover made specifically for this purpose to limit the amount of dirt and debris deposited throughout the winter. If it snows a lot, try your best to remove whatever's accumulated on the shutters, as the weight can damage the slats.

Even if it's vital to clean your pool shutters with care, you only need to do it twice a year, so it's rather easy to do. The care you take when cleaning will ensure your equipment lasts for longer and will help keep your water clean so you can have fun in your pool immediately when springtime comes around.
